Amends G.S. 50B-4 to clarify that valid protective orders remain enforceable in trial court during appeals by the aggrieved party unless the appellate court stays the order if justice requires.

Requires courts to enforce valid protective orders without further court order, including emergency or ex parte orders.

Amends G.S. 50B-3 to allow courts to modify protective orders upon written request of either party at a hearing after notice or service of process, upon finding of good cause.

Applies to protective orders issued under North Carolina law and extends full faith and credit to out-of-state and Indian tribe protective orders.

Effective October 1, 2017.
