Grants probation officers authority to act as peace officers on prison property for protecting life and property, transferring prisoners, and apprehending escaped prisoners.

Expands probation officer search authority to include warrantless and suspicionless searches of probationers' persons, property, residences, vehicles, cell phones, computers, and electronic devices while present.

Adds curfew conditions that probation officers can impose on probationers, which may be monitored electronically.

Authorizes probation officers to require offenders on supervised probation to obtain sex offender assessments and mental health assessments and follow all recommended treatment.

Applies new probation conditions to offenders sentenced under DUI laws (G.S. 20-179) and those on conditional discharge or deferred prosecution, effective December 1, 2017.
