Adds new protections for municipal law enforcement officers who report improper or unlawful government activity, including violations of law, fraud, misappropriation of resources, dangers to public health and safety, or gross mismanagement.

Prohibits employing agencies and other officers from discharging, threatening, or discriminating against officers who report such activities in writing, unless the report is known to be inaccurate.

Allows officers injured by violations to sue in superior court within one year for damages, injunctions, reinstatement, back wages, fringe benefits, costs, and reasonable attorney's fees.

Requires employing agencies to post notice informing officers of their protections and obligations under this section, with the State paying for production of postings.

Makes knowingly filing a false report under this section punishable as a Class 2 misdemeanor; effective October 1, 2017.
