Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) must amend qualifications for Qualified Professionals in mental health, developmental disability, and substance abuse services (MH/DD/SAS) to allow full-time experience to be obtained either before or after earning the required educational degree.

DHHS must submit any necessary Medicaid State Plan amendment to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) no later than December 1, 2017.

The Commission for Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Substance Abuse Services must amend related rules within six months of receiving CMS approval of the State Plan amendment.

Any changes to clinical coverage policies and rules shall not take effect until DHHS receives CMS approval of the required State Plan amendment.

Act became effective upon enactment on June 8, 2017.
