Allows Union County Public Schools to begin the school year no earlier than the second Tuesday in August (changed from the Monday closest to August 26) and end no later than the second Tuesday in June (changed from the Friday closest to June 11).

Removes the "good cause" waiver provision that previously allowed the State Board of Education to grant exceptions to the August opening date requirement for districts experiencing excessive weather-related closures.

Permits local boards of education that implement calendars concluding the fall semester prior to December 31 to administer state assessments and final exams before the semester ends, rather than requiring them in the final 10 instructional days of the school year.

Applies only to Union County Public Schools and takes effect for the 2017–2018 academic year.
