Allows licensed attorneys employed by nonprofit membership associations to provide legal services to the associations' members consistent with the organization's mission, charter, or purpose.

Requires that attorneys control the manner and course of legal services rendered and must be licensed to practice law in North Carolina.

Permits nonprofit membership associations to charge members for legal services provided under this authority.

Applies notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary.

Also updates existing law to clarify that nonprofit corporations providing indigent legal services may be organized under Chapter 55A of the General Statutes and must maintain tax-exempt status under 26 U.S.C. § 501(c)(3).
