Requires moped operators to wear bright and visible clothing or a vest that can be seen from at least 300 feet to the rear when operating a moped after sunset on a highway or public vehicular area.

Violation of the reflective gear requirement constitutes an infraction with a penalty of $25.50 plus court costs (General Court of Justice fee, telephone facilities fee, and law enforcement training and certification fee).

Violation of this section does not constitute negligence per se or contributory negligence per se in civil actions.

No driver's license points or insurance surcharge shall be assessed for violation of this requirement.

Effective date is December 1, 2017, and applies to offenses committed on or after that date.
