Increases the criminal penalty for a felon possessing a firearm from a Class G felony to a Class F felony under G.S. 14-415.1(a).

Changes the penalty for breaking or entering a building with intent to commit a felony or larceny from a Class H felony to a Class F felony when any person is in actual occupation of the building at the time of the offense under G.S. 14-54(a).

Increases the penalty for breaking or entering a building with intent to terrorize or injure an occupant from a Class H felony to a Class F felony under G.S. 14-54(a1).

Becomes effective December 1, 2017, and applies only to offenses committed on or after that date.
