Paul Luebke (1946-2016) was honored for his service as a North Carolina House of Representatives member representing Durham County for 25 years beginning in 1990.

Luebke was an Associate Professor of Sociology at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro for 40 years and authored two books on North Carolina politics: Tarheel Politics: Myths and Realities (1990) and Tarheel Politics 2000 (1998).

As a legislator, Luebke served as chair of the Finance Committee and advocated for tax fairness, public education, environmental regulation, death penalty repeal, reproductive rights, and public transit.

The General Assembly extended sympathy to Luebke's family and directed the Secretary of State to transmit a certified copy of the resolution to his family members.

Resolution was ratified June 8, 2017.
