Removes restrictions on school opening and closing dates for Johnston County Schools by striking language that previously limited opening dates to no earlier than the Monday closest to August 26 and closing dates to no later than the Friday closest to June 11.

Eliminates the requirement for "good cause" showing to the State Board of Education for Johnston County Schools to open earlier than the standard August 26 date.

Removes the exception previously granted only to schools operating under modified calendars designated in the 2003-2004 school year.

Applies only to Johnston County Schools and becomes effective upon enactment for the 2017-2018 school year and beyond.
