Creates new statute G.S. 7B-2701.5 authorizing courts to order a parent, guardian, or custodian to perform community service with a juvenile adjudicated delinquent for assaulting a school employee or school volunteer.

Court order for parental community service is discretionary and requires the court to find it is in the best interests of the juvenile.

Applies when a juvenile is ordered to perform community service either in a dispositional order under G.S. 7B-2506 or in a probation order under G.S. 7B-2510.

Becomes effective December 1, 2017 and applies to offenses committed on or after that date.
