Joint Legislative Oversight Committee on Justice and Public Safety shall study whether defendants in domestic violence protective order (50B) actions should be allowed to expunge related orders and documents.

Committee must examine expunction when an ex parte or temporary order is issued but the plaintiff voluntarily dismisses the case in the defendant's favor.

Committee must examine expunction when an ex parte or temporary order is issued but a court hearing finds the defendant did not commit acts of domestic violence.

Committee must examine whether conditions exist for defendants to expunge domestic violence protective orders after a period of time with no additional incidents of domestic violence, violent behavior, or substance/alcohol abuse.

Committee shall report findings and recommendations to the General Assembly by April 1, 2018.
