Appropriates $10,000,000 from the General Fund to the Department of Public Instruction for the 2017-2018 fiscal year.

Funds are designated to enable school nutrition programs in prekindergarten and elementary schools participating in the National School Lunch Program to implement nutrition standards adopted by the State Board of Education.

Allocates funds to each local school administrative unit based on the number of reimbursable lunches served to students in prekindergarten and elementary schools, distributed monthly based on reimbursement claims.

Requires funds to be used for implementing National School Lunch Program nutrition standards, improving school nutrition program operations, and purchasing food, equipment, supplies, and salaries/benefits for school nutrition personnel.

Effective July 1, 2017, beginning with the 2017-2018 school year.
