Local boards of education must report annually to the Center for Safer Schools by September 15, starting in 2018, with information about school resource officers including the number employed, their school placements, funding sources, and employment methods.

The Center for Safer Schools shall compile the reported data and submit an annual executive summary and disaggregated data by November 15, starting in 2018, to the Joint Legislative Education Oversight Committee.

This reporting requirement applies to all local school administrative units across North Carolina.

The bill becomes effective upon passage into law.
