Removes state-mandated opening and closing date restrictions for Caldwell County Schools, allowing the local board of education to set school calendar dates independently.

Permits Caldwell County Schools to align their opening and closing dates with Caldwell Community College's fall and spring semesters.

Eliminates the previous requirement that school opening dates be no earlier than the Monday closest to August 26 and closing dates no later than the Friday closest to June 11 for this county.

Intended to benefit high school students enrolled in dual-enrollment classes at Caldwell Community College by synchronizing academic calendars and supporting workforce development in the county.

Effective beginning with the 2017-2018 school year and applies only to Caldwell County Schools.
