Removes restrictions on opening and closing dates for Guilford County Schools, eliminating requirements that students start no earlier than the Monday closest to August 26 and end no later than the Friday closest to June 11.

Eliminates the "good cause" waiver provision that previously allowed the State Board of Education to grant exceptions to opening date requirements.

Removes exemption language that previously applied only to schools operating under modified calendars designated in the 2003-2004 school year.

Applies only to Guilford County Schools, making this a local bill affecting that county's school system.

Effective when signed into law, beginning with the 2017-2018 school year.
