Senate Bill 325 Summary

• Extends one-stop early voting period from the second Thursday before an election to the third Wednesday before an election, ending at 7:00 P.M. on the last Friday instead of 1:00 P.M. on the last Saturday.

• Requires all one-stop voting sites within a county to operate during the same days and hours, with all weekday sites open from 7:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M. during the early voting period.

• Mandates uniform hours for Saturday and Sunday operations across all county sites if the county board chooses to offer weekend voting.

• Requires county boards of elections to submit annual reports on voter list maintenance efforts to the State Board by September 1 each year, with the State Board compiling and submitting these to the Joint Legislative Elections Oversight Committee by October 1.

• Repeals G.S. 163A-1304 and becomes effective upon enactment (ratified June 15, 2018, and became law despite gubernatorial veto on June 27, 2018).
