NC S427

Requires county departments of social services to make diligent efforts to contact a noncustodial parent when an investigation reveals abuse, neglect, or dependency involving the noncustodial parent's child.

Prohibits contacting the noncustodial parent if documented evidence shows that such contact would present a safety threat or risk of harm to the child or would not be in the child's best interest.

Amends G.S. 7B-302 by adding a new subsection (c1) establishing notification procedures for noncustodial parents.

Effective upon enactment into law.
