• Narrows the definition of "educational property" under firearms prohibition laws to exclude land, buildings, or facilities not used primarily for educational purposes.

• Excludes religious institutions used as schools on a part-time basis from the definition when facilities are not currently in use as a school.

• Excludes public roads and thoroughfares that cross educational campuses, and medical facilities where patient care is the primary purpose rather than education.

• Permits individuals not participating in extracurricular activities to possess firearms at those activities when conducted in public places such as restaurants, parks, or museums.

• Effective date: December 1, 2017.
