Establishes a Joint Legislative Task Force on Sudden Cardiac Arrest in Student Athletes consisting of 7 members: 2 Senate members (one as cochair), 2 House members (one as cochair), Secretary of Health and Human Services or designee, Superintendent of Public Instruction or designee, and an American Heart Association representative.

Task Force shall study the frequency of sudden cardiac arrest in student athletes, strategies used in other jurisdictions to mitigate risks (such as mandatory heart exams), and the cost of requiring student athletes to be tested for heart conditions.

Task Force meetings shall begin no later than October 1, 2017, with a final report due to the General Assembly on or before April 1, 2018, including proposed legislation.

Task Force shall terminate on April 1, 2018, or upon filing its final report, whichever comes first.

Members receive per diem, subsistence, and travel allowance; Task Force may contract for professional and consultant services; legislative staff support shall be assigned to assist the Task Force.
