Appropriates $340,000 in nonrecurring funds for fiscal year 2017-2018 and $330,000 for fiscal year 2018-2019 to Working Landscapes, a nonprofit organization in Warren County, to fund a pilot program.

Pilot program reimburses participating school districts in the North Central region (15 counties including Durham, Wake, Chapel Hill, and others) based on servings of food sourced from local farms within the same region.

Allocates $60,000 in 2017-2018 and $120,000 in 2018-2019 directly to school systems to offset higher costs of locally grown products.

Remaining funds are cost-shared one-to-one with Working Landscapes funds to establish program infrastructure and help local farms obtain certifications required to supply school nutrition programs.

Effective July 1, 2017.
