SB 664 Summary

• Repeals Section 8.22 of S.L. 2013-360 regarding salary supplements for advanced degrees in education.

• Limits "M" salary schedule eligibility and academic degree supplements to: certified school nurses requiring master's degrees; teachers paid on the schedule before 2014-2015; teachers completing degrees started before August 1, 2013; and teachers spending 70% of work time on instruction or graduate field-related work.

• Requires annual determination of eligibility for teachers under the 70% work requirement, with potential removal from the salary schedule if requirements are no longer met.

• Prohibits teachers with advanced degrees in school administration from receiving the "M" salary schedule or supplements unless they serve as assistant principal or principal.

• Effective July 1, 2017.
