Honors the life and memory of Ralph A. Hunt, Sr., a former State Senator and Durham City Council member who died on May 16, 2017, at age 85.

Recognizes Hunt's service including his election to Durham City Council Ward 3 in 1975 as one of only two African-Americans serving at that time, and his tenure as Mayor Pro Tempore until 1985.

Acknowledges his four terms as State Senator between 1985 and 1992, during which he served as Chair of the Finance Committee and Majority Whip.

Notes his appointment by Governor James B. Hunt to the State Utilities Commission from 1993 to 2001 and his return to the State Senate in 2004 to complete a term.

Directs the Secretary of State to transmit a certified copy of this resolution to Hunt's family.
