Senate Bill 757 - Court Districts Reorganization

• Reorganizes superior court districts in North Carolina, including dividing Mecklenburg County from one district (26) into eight separate districts (26A-26H) with 1-3 judges each and reconfiguring districts in New Hanover, Pender, Wake, and other counties.

• Restructures district court districts statewide, with significant changes to Wake County districts (10A-10F) and Mecklenburg County districts (26A-26H), specifying judges per district and voting tabulation district boundaries.

• Implements new judgeships across multiple districts with staggered elections beginning in 2018 and 2020, with subsequent elections every four years.

• Updates prosecutorial district alignments to correspond with the new superior and district court district configurations.

• Directs the Director of the Budget to appropriate funds from the unreserved fund balance to cover costs of newly created judgeships if Senate Bill 99 becomes law; effective January 1, 2019.
