Allows retired law enforcement officers to work for county boards of elections on election days without losing their special separation allowance payments.

Modifies G.S. 143-166.42 to add election day service as an exception to the rule that reemployment by a local government employer causes the allowance to cease.

Retired officers must still meet original qualification requirements: 30+ years of service or age 55+ with 5+ years of service, not yet age 62, and 5+ years continuous service preceding retirement.

The allowance continues to be 0.85% of annual base compensation for each year of creditable service, paid in equal installments on the employer's payroll schedule.
