Department of Health and Human Services shall study human exposure to per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in the Cape Fear River Basin and conduct epidemiological studies on disease prevalence, with a final report due by December 31, 2021, and quarterly reports beginning January 1, 2021.

Wildlife Resources Commission shall study ecological exposures and impacts from PFAS contamination in the Cape Fear River Basin, with a final report due by December 31, 2021, and quarterly reports beginning January 1, 2021.

Office of State Budget and Management shall estimate costs incurred by the State, local governments, businesses, and individuals in response to PFAS exposure, attributable to each identified PFAS source, with findings due by December 31, 2021.

Department of Environmental Quality shall create an inventory of all PFAS discharges to air and surface waters, and known contamination in soil and groundwater, with initial findings due by September 1, 2021, and subsequent quarterly updates.

Environmental Review Commission shall study disclosure requirements for PFAS releases and examine green chemistry practices in other states, reporting findings and legislative proposals to the 2021 Regular Session of the General Assembly.

Total appropriations of $700,000 in nonrecurring funds for fiscal year 2020-2021 are allocated across state agencies to conduct the required studies, effective July 1, 2020.
