Changes the Iredell-Statesville Schools Board of Education election method from partisan to nonpartisan beginning in 2022, contingent on voter approval.

Board members shall be elected on a nonpartisan plurality basis at general elections in even-numbered years, with candidates filing notice of candidacy between July 1 and August 1.

Members elected in 2018 and 2020 under the partisan system shall serve their full terms and are not affected by this change.

Requires a referendum conducted by the Iredell County Board of Elections on November 3, 2020, with voters deciding whether to change the election method from partisan to nonpartisan.

The act becomes effective only upon voter approval of the referendum; otherwise, the remainder of the act becomes effective upon ratification.
