Board of Governors shall adopt a policy prohibiting any constituent institution of the University of North Carolina from hosting a Confucius Institute as defined in P.L. 115-232.

Private postsecondary institutions that host a Confucius Institute lose eligibility for students to use scholarships under the scholarship article, effective beginning 2020-2021 fiscal year.

No state agency may allocate state funds to private colleges or universities that host a Confucius Institute, beginning with the 2020-2021 fiscal year.

$150,000 in nonrecurring funds are appropriated to the Board of Governors for the 2020-2021 fiscal year to help constituent institutions transition from hosting a Confucius Institute to developing alternative Chinese language instruction curriculum.

Act becomes effective July 1, 2020, and applies beginning with the 2020-2021 academic year.
