Allows licensed electrical contractors employed by schools, hospitals, and nonprofits exempt under Internal Revenue Code section 501(c)(3) to perform maintenance and repairs on all facilities at any time when directed by those organizations.

Adds exception to G.S. 87-43.1 permitting local boards of education, hospitals as defined in G.S. 131E-76, and section 501(c)(3) nonprofits to employ licensed electrical contractors to perform maintenance and repairs on their owned or possessed property.

Clarifies that licensed electrical contractors regularly employed by local boards of education may maintain individual licenses and contract or perform work for nonprofit organizations, hospitals, or other local boards of education regardless of whether facilities are leased or provided for other entities or events.

Authorizes local boards of education to employ personnel licensed as electrical contractors pursuant to Article 4 of Chapter 87 of the General Statutes for maintenance and repair work on school property.

Becomes effective upon enactment.
