House Bill 203 Summary

• Modifies the Social Worker Certification and Licensure Act to align associate licensure requirements with the Association of Social Work Boards exam policy

• Changes Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate qualifications to require a master's or doctoral degree in social work instead of requiring a current Certified Master Social Worker certificate

• Updates Board composition to require one certified social worker, one certified master social worker, or one certified social work manager, and four licensed clinical social workers (instead of previous requirements)

• Eliminates the examination requirement for certificate and license renewal while maintaining standards for initial certification and licensure

• Extends client record retention requirements from a minimum of three years to the longer of either 10 years from service termination or the period mandated by a third-party payee

• Becomes effective January 1, 2021, with new Certified Social Work Manager qualifications applying only to applications received on or after that date
