Clerk of superior court must retain names and addresses of persons requesting to be excused from jury duty based on disqualification under G.S. 9-3 for the remainder of the biennium, with such records classified as non-public.

Records of persons disqualified or excused for reasons relating to voter qualifications under G.S. 163A-841 shall be public records and provided electronically to local and state boards of elections quarterly.

State Board of Elections must retain electronic records of disqualifications or excusals for two years, and clerk of superior court may destroy records at the end of each biennium.

Administrative Office of the Courts shall amend Rules of Recordkeeping to implement the new procedures for recording jury duty excusals.

Act becomes effective January 1, 2020.
