Defines "modified utility vehicle" as a motor vehicle manufactured for off-road use with four wheels, engine displacement greater than 2,400 cubic centimeters, minimum dimensions of 142 inches length, 58 inches width, and 70 inches height, with maximum speed capability of 40 mph or greater, and does not require straddling a seat.

Modified utility vehicles may operate only on streets and highways with posted speed limits of 55 mph or less, with ability to cross intersections with higher speed limits.

Modified utility vehicles must be equipped with headlamps, stop lamps, turn signals, tail lamps, reflectors, parking brakes, rearview mirrors, windshields, windshield wipers, speedometer, seat belts, and a vehicle identification number (assigned by Division if not originally present).

Registration and insurance requirements for modified utility vehicles are the same as for low-speed vehicles and mini-trucks, with rental vehicles subject to U-drive-it automobile fee structure.

The Department of Transportation may prohibit operation of modified utility vehicles on any road or highway if necessary for safety reasons.
