Increases the time period required for adverse possession from 20 years to 30 years in North Carolina General Statute § 1-40

Requires a possessor who acquires title through adverse possession to pay the previous owner the fair market value of the property at the time of acquisition

Requires reimbursement to the previous owner for all property taxes incurred during the 30-year period of adverse possession

Prohibits title transfer by adverse possession if the property being adversely possessed is entirely within one foot of the recorded boundary

Effective upon enactment and applies to actions for recovery or possession of real property commenced on or after the effective date
