Authorizes the Legislative Services Commission to obtain criminal history record checks for prospective employees, volunteers, and contractors of the General Assembly.

Criminal history checks conducted by the State Bureau of Investigation using fingerprints submitted to both state and federal repositories for background verification.

Criminal history reports provided to the Legislative Services Officer and classified as non-public records under North Carolina law.

Legislative Services Officer may disclose criminal history information about legislative employees serving at a legislator's discretion to that legislator upon formal written request, with confidentiality required.

Department of Public Safety authorized to charge a fee not exceeding the actual cost of conducting the criminal record check.

Effective date: October 1, 2019.
