School psychologists receive an additional $1,000 per month in compensation beyond their regular "A" salary schedule salary.

$7,500,000 in recurring General Fund appropriations for fiscal year 2019-2020 provided to the Department of Public Instruction to fund the compensation increases.

State Board of Education establishes School Psychologist Recruitment and Retention Program offering signing and retention bonuses up to $10,000 per individual to school psychologists in public school units.

Bonuses conditioned on 3-5 year employment agreements with school psychologists required to repay bonuses on prorated basis if they leave early, except for terminations due to death, reduction in force, or disability.

$750,000 in recurring funds appropriated for program administration, including up to $100,000 to establish one full-time recruitment and retention coordinator position at the Department of Public Instruction; act becomes effective July 1, 2019.
