State Board of Education must adopt a policy requiring public secondary schools to provide students in grades 6-12 with information on child abuse and neglect, including age-appropriate sexual abuse information.

Schools must distribute a document to all students at the beginning of each school year and display posted materials in visible, high-traffic areas containing warning signs of abuse, county department of social services reporting phone numbers, confidentiality statements, and available resources.

Charter schools, regional schools, and schools operated by the Board of Governors must implement the same abuse and neglect awareness policy adopted by the State Board of Education.

The Board of Governors must develop and operate an anonymous tip line for all public secondary schools under its control in accordance with existing law.

The act becomes effective upon enactment and applies beginning with the 2019-2020 school year.
