Defendants ordered to attend abuser treatment programs must begin within 60 days of the order and the court shall schedule a compliance review hearing as soon as practicable after 60 days.

Defendants may submit written proof of enrollment and attendance to the clerk before the 60-day review hearing to have it removed from the court docket and avoid appearing in court.

Domestic violence protective orders expire at 11:59 P.M. on the indicated expiration date unless specifically stated otherwise in the order.

Courts must order defendants to surrender all firearms, machine guns, ammunition, and firearm permits in their possession or control upon issuance of an emergency order, ex parte order, or order following notice and due process if certain factors are present.

The act becomes effective October 1, 2019, and applies to court orders issued on or after that date.
