Appropriates $250,000 in recurring General Fund money for fiscal year 2019-2020 to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine to support the Advisory Council on Rare Diseases.

Funds designated to develop a statewide rare disease network for collecting prevalence data, stimulating collaborations, and creating biotechnology economic development opportunities.

Allocates $30,000 for seminars on rare diseases held throughout the state, $25,000 for council member travel and conference attendance, and $5,000 for website and social media maintenance.

Provides $160,000 to establish positions and contract temporary employees to support council initiatives, and $30,000 for literature, equipment, and supplies.

Becomes effective July 1, 2019.
