Appropriates $8,000,000 from the General Fund to the Department of Public Instruction for the 2019-2020 fiscal year to be allocated to New Hanover County Schools for facility expansion.

Funds support Southeast Area Technical High School (SEA-Tech), a choice-based cooperative innovative high school partnership with Cape Fear Community College serving the Wilmington Metro region.

SEA-Tech will relocate in fall 2019 from Cape Fear Community College's North Campus to a New Hanover County Schools-owned facility one-half mile away.

Facility expansion will include culinary arts classroom, carpentry shop, makerspace, public safety spaces, computer labs, coffee bar, and career center to support career-based training and credentials.

Act becomes effective July 1, 2019.
