Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Public Health, Vital Records Section must develop and adopt a mechanism by October 1, 2019 for Registers of Deed to amend death certificates.

Registers of Deed may amend the place of burial on a death certificate upon request from a family member who authorized cremation to reflect the actual location where cremated remains are buried.

Amendments to death certificates must be reported by Registers of Deed to the State Registrar.

Department of Health and Human Services must report the adopted mechanism to the Joint Legislative Oversight Committee on Health and Human Services by November 1, 2019.

The act becomes effective upon passage into law.
