Courts must reduce oral jury instructions to writing in medical malpractice cases and may provide jurors with a written copy to take into the deliberation room.

The Senior Resident Superior Court Judge is encouraged to designate a single judge to preside over all proceedings in medical malpractice cases, in consultation with the Administrative Office of the Courts and the parties.

The act applies to civil cases subject to Rule 9(j) of the Rules of Civil Procedure.

The law becomes effective October 1, 2019, with Section 1 applying to actions filed on or after that date.
