Establishes a Joint Legislative Study Committee on Career and College Readiness composed of three Senate members and three House members, each chamber appointing one cochair.

Committee shall study the definition of career and college readiness skills and recommend how to incorporate them into the standard course of study for North Carolina schools.

Committee shall examine how to include high school coursework resulting in college credit (dual enrollment, AP, IB) or postsecondary credentials into high school performance grades and review how other states have addressed this in their school evaluation systems.

Committee shall analyze the potential impact of various approaches for including such coursework on school performance grades across the state, including sample calculations from the Department of Public Instruction.

Final report and any proposed legislation must be submitted by April 1, 2020, with the committee terminating on that date or upon filing of the report, whichever occurs first.
