State Board of Education shall review and revise science curriculum standards for grades kindergarten through five to ensure age-appropriate climate change instruction is included at each grade level.

Department of Public Instruction shall provide curriculum content on climate change, and local school boards shall provide professional development to teachers on implementing climate instruction.

Appropriates $15,000,000 in recurring General Fund dollars for fiscal year 2019-2020 to local school administrative units for professional development of kindergarten through fifth-grade school personnel.

Professional development funding shall include instruction on methods of teaching climate change as part of the science curriculum.

Act becomes effective July 1, 2019, with curriculum requirements applying beginning with the 2020-2021 school year.
