Expands limited immunity protections under G.S. 90-96.2 to persons who experience drug-related overdoses, in addition to those who seek medical assistance for overdose victims.

Overdose victims receive immunity from prosecution for specified offenses if evidence was obtained as a result of any person seeking medical assistance for their overdose, regardless of whether the victim themselves called for help.

Removes the requirement that overdose victims provide their own name to 911 or law enforcement, though the person seeking assistance must still meet this requirement.

Maintains the existing condition that medical assistance must not have been sought during execution of an arrest warrant, search warrant, or other lawful search.

Becomes effective December 1, 2019, and applies to offenses committed on or after that date.
