Regular municipal elections in the Town of Montreat shall be held on the Tuesday after the first Monday in November in each even-numbered year, beginning in 2020.

The Board of Commissioners shall consist of five members elected for four-year staggered terms, with two commissioners elected in 2020 and every four years thereafter, and three commissioners elected in 2022 and every four years thereafter.

The Mayor shall be elected to a four-year term in 2020 and quadrennially thereafter by all qualified voters of the town.

No municipal elections shall be conducted in Montreat in 2019; the Mayor and two commissioners with 2019 expiration dates are extended until 2020, and three commissioners with 2021 expiration dates are extended until 2022.

The Buncombe County Board of Elections shall set the filing period for candidates seeking municipal office and notify the Town of the deadline.
