District attorneys must notify sworn law enforcement officers by personal service 10 days prior to a grand jury session when the officer may be charged for crimes arising from their official duties.

Officers are entitled to appear before the grand jury and voluntarily testify or present evidence at their discretion.

If an officer elects to testify, they must be called to testify only after the State's evidence has been presented to the grand jury.

The law becomes effective December 1, 2019, and applies to all grand jury proceedings on or after that date.
