Senate Bill 419 Summary

• Transfers sex offender registry operations from Department of Public Safety to State Bureau of Investigation throughout G.S. Chapter 14, Article 14 statutes.

• Modifies juvenile detention facility provisions to specify that persons under age 18 must be committed to Division of Adult Correction and Juvenile Justice facilities or approved juvenile detention facilities, effective July 1, 2020.

• Creates wildlife control technician certification as a free annual certification option for employees of wildlife control agents engaged in damage control or removal activities.

• Designates the Superintendent of Public Instruction as an applicable elected representative to approve issuance of private activity bonds for charter school facilities after public hearing.
