Amends G.S. 50B-7 to specify that any subsequent civil orders related to custody, child support, spousal support, and property possession entered under other chapters of North Carolina General Statutes supersede similar provisions in domestic violence protective orders.

Modifies G.S. 50B-3(a1)(4) to clarify that temporary custody orders issued under domestic violence law are without prejudice and limited to one year, and that any subsequent custody order entered under Chapter 50 supersedes the temporary order.

Preserves parties' right to request a de novo hearing under Chapter 50 of the General Statutes regarding custody matters.

Becomes effective October 1, 2019, and applies to all orders in effect on or after that date.
