S767 - Combat-Injured Veterans Tax Fairness Act

• Extends the statute of limitations for combat-injured veterans to file amended North Carolina tax returns for improperly withheld disability severance payments that were excluded from federal gross income under Public Law 114-292.

• Allows eligible veterans who filed amended federal individual income tax returns to claim refunds from the North Carolina Department of Revenue for state income taxes paid on those improperly withheld amounts.

• Sets a deadline of October 15, 2022 for submitting refund requests to the Secretary of Revenue, after which claims are barred.

• Becomes effective upon enactment.
