Designates April 24th of each year as Wounded Heroes Day in North Carolina by adding § 103-16 to Chapter 103 of the General Statutes.

Honors Army Sgt. Michael Verardo, who was wounded by an improvised explosive device on April 24, 2010, while serving with the 82nd Airborne in Afghanistan, resulting in loss of his left leg, much of his left arm, severe burns, traumatic brain injury, and other injuries.

Recognizes Sgt. Verardo's recovery through 120 surgeries and years of physical, occupational, speech, and visual therapies, enabling him to participate in adaptive athletics and community activities.

Commemorates all wounded service members who have made sacrifices in service to the nation through the annual observance on April 24th.

Effective upon becoming law, approved April 21, 2021.
